Week 20 POTW and Administrative Notes

February 13, 2011 by admin

First, we have be informed that there has been a rash of thefts from rinks in the area, specifically Arlington, Bedford, Newton, Waltham, and Watertown. Some of which have been hit multiple times and at events ranging from pick-up hours to high school games. Please take care to protect your valuables and plan to bring them to the bench if you can not lock your locker room door.

Locker room keys are now mandatory in Watertown. If you are the first one to arrive please get the key in the skate shop.

Second item – league party. Last year’s party was a great cap to the season. We are working on the details for this year’s event. If you have specific suggestions or would like to help in the planning (or if your band wants to play) send us a feedback and we’ll get you involved.

Spring/Summer hockey is coming. Rinks are being a little slower this year in setting their schedules, but when we finalize rinks and ice time, we’ll let you know. We’ll definitely be running pick-up ice from the spring through the Summer. We expect league games will start in June. Thinking of being a captain and drafting a team? Please drop us a note – we need a lot of you and it’s a fun way to earn credits.

Payments – at this point all players should be paid except by special arrangement. Any other unpaid players will not be allowed on the ice. All installments must be completed prior to playoffs. Captains will be notified of ineligible players.

Now onto Player of the week. Greater Boston Hockey is a goal scorer’s league. Multi-goal games and hat tricks are regular occurrences for the talented hands of Berger, both Colettis, Donovan, Garceau, Hage, Harlow, LeSage, Meehan, and Roy… and so many more of you we could take another three lines. But standing in front of those shots, facing the breakaways, and working hard every game are the goaltenders. So this week we’ll recognize the goalies, two in particular: Eric Bilbo and Bill Notartomaso.
