Week 4 news and Player of the Week…

October 26, 2010 by admin

In week 4 action we saw a number of high scoring contests. The Islanders taking the 8-6 win over the Rangers, Detroit holding off Nashville in the closing seconds for an 8-7 win. Vancouver put 4 in on the Flames in the 3rd period but the Flames held on for the 7-5 victory and by far the craziest game of the week between the Maple Leafs and Penguins. The Penguins started with no goalie when Luis Galvao who was there to scoreekeep suited up in equipment that was gathered from around the rink. Not long after the Penguins get a netminder the Maple Leafs lost theirs as Bill Notartomaso took a shot off the blocker that broke his finger. He left the game but did return in the third period. After all that the Maple Leafs took the lead with 1:24 left to play only to have the Penguins score the game tying goal with :03 seconds left in the game. The Penguins went on to win the game in OT on a tip in goal by Ryan Daley (his second game winning goal in two days, also had the GWG for Detroit the night before). Clearly that deserves an honorable mention for POW as well as another nod to Jeremy in Watertown for helping Luis suit up and taping Bill’s hand so he could get back in the game.

With all the high scoring and thrilling games this past week, the Player of the Week honor goes to:
