The Maple Leafs and Flames faceoff in the first game of Thursdays double header. The Maple Leafs with only 8 skaters put up a good fight, but it was the Flames that came away with the Win, 5-2. Brian Martin of the Maple Leafs scored first in the game but the Flames answered with three straight goals to take a commanding lead.  Luke Harris scored first for the Flames. Aaron Johnson made it 2-1 Flames off a feed from Luke Harris and Alex Garceau’s goal put the up 3-1 early in the third period.  Tim Gardner scored the Maple Leafs second goal of the game at 11:57 of the third period but that’s all the offense they could muster on this night. The Flames got two more goals both scored by Andrew Fox to close out the game.

In the second game of the night it was the Penguins taking on the Wild. A good hard fought first period saw the Penguins take a 1-0 lead on a Jim Koehler goal but just :28 seconds into the second period Gabe Menard of the Wild tied the game at 1-1 when his slapshot from the point found the back of the Penguins net. The 1-1 score was as  close as the Wild would come in this one as the Penguins went off in the second and third periods. Jim Koehler started it off with his second goal of the game followed by Tim Carter’s natural hat trick. Mike Lerra added a goal for the Penguins and Tim Carter continued his good night scoring 2 more goals. Dave Ford put the nail in the coffin with his late PP goal.  Tim Carter finished the game with 5 goals. The Wild did get a pair of goals in the 3rd, both scored by KC Reardon but it was all Penguins in the end 9-3.
