Blues suppress Wild comeback, win 4-2

March 12, 2010 by Nate

In a game which saw excellent goaltending (88 combined shots), the Blues came out on top in their match up with the wild 4-2.  The Blues got the scoring started early when  Stephen Poogach (assist: Joseph Perna) was able to beat Bill Notartomaso five hole at 13:45 of the first.  Just over two minutes later, Nate Roy(assist:  Stephen Poogach) was able to cash in on a rebound in the slot for a 2-0 Blues lead.  The Blues would make it 3-o a few minutes later when Nate Roy was able to finish off a play which saw a Joseph Perna deke leave the puck sitting on the goal line.

The second period saw the Wild inch closer on a goal at 5:43 when Chris Seman was able to finish off a play started by KC Reardon, by sliding the puck past Blues’ goalie Dan Notartomaso cutting the lead to 3-1 after two.  Early in the third, the Blues would get an insurance marker when Joseph Perna fed Michel Boulerice on a two on one break and he was able to put the puck just inside the post.  The Wild tried to mount a comeback, starting just thirty seconds after the Blues’ goal, when Dave Santiano was able to beat Dan Notartomaso five-hole off a nice feed from Mark Ringuette.  However, that’s where the scoring would end for both sides, with the Blues coming out with a 4-2 victory.

  1. Bill Notartomaso had an awesome save at the end of the game on a 2-on-1. He stacked the pads and it looked like he got it with the paddle of his sticks. It was a highlight reel save!

  2. Yeah, the windmill save was awesome. I decided not to mention it out of respect for the shooter that got absolutely ROBBED.

  3. I was that shooter. When a defenseman jumps up on a 2 on 1 there should be a rule that goalies can’t make miraculous saves to rob that defenseman of a highlight reel goal.
