Blues bury Maple Leafs 5-1… Flames scorch Wild 9-2…
March 2, 2010 by KenIn the first game of this Monday’s double header the Blues took it to the Maple Leafs coming away with a 5-1 victory. Despite the Maple Leafs scoring first, just :30 seconds into the opening period, Sam Toso with assists going to David Biele and Rich Lemerise. Unfortunately for the Leafs that would be their only goal. The Blues rallied for 3 first period goals and 5 unanswered goals to take the Win. Dan Notartomaso was solid in net stopping 37 Maple Leafs shots while Matt Lydon made 42 saves in the Loss. For the Blues it was a well balanced night, 5 goals and 5 different goal scorers. Ed Kelley opened the scoring for Blues followed by goals from Scott Ninemeier, Nate Roy, Patrick Taylor and Alan Donaruma. Read alternate recap
The second game of the double header saw the Flames take it to the Wild 9-2, ending their 3 game losing streak and adding to the Wild’s streak. Alex Garceau had a huge game for the Flames, scoring the first 4 goals for his team and totaling 6 goals on the night. Also scoring for the Flames was Ross Bergen, Jared Marshall and Andrew Fox. Mike Hoye also had a good game chipping in with 3 assists. Bill Notartomaso made 35 saves in the loss for the Wild while Dave Santiano potted both Wild goals.
