Notartomaso gets shutout, Blues beat Bruins 9-0
February 24, 2010 by NateIn the second game of the double header, Blues goalie Dan Notartomaso recorded the first shutout of the winter season in a a game that saw him stop all 30 shots the Bruins threw at him. The first period saw the Blues score early when Alan Donaruma scored with help from Greg Hamann at 12:15. The Blues would then capitalize on a Bruins penalty when Nate Roy (assist: Michel Boulerice) banked a shot of a Bruins defender and past goalie Tim Driscoll at 8:38. The Blues would score one more in the period when Ed Kelley (assist: Joseph Perna) scored on a breakaway to give the Blues a 3-0 lead at the end of the first.
Early in the second, the Blues’ Andrew Frisch buried the rebound of a Nate Roy faceoff shot to put them up 4-0. Later, at 5:21 Joseph Perna added to the Blues lead with assists going to Ed Kelley and Cory Amarante. The Blues wrapped up the period with one more goal at 2:17 from Alan Donaruma (assists: Francis Dargon and Michel Boulerice), putting them up 6-0 at the end of two.
The final period saw another three goals from the Blues. The first two came on the power play with Joseph Perna (assist: Greg Hamann) netting his second of the night and Andrew Frisch (assist: Cory Amarante) also netting his second of the night. Late in the third, with the Bruins on the powerplay, Blues goalkeeper Dan Notartomaso came up huge by stopping a flurry of shots at point blank range to keep the shutout going. The Blues would later add one more goal from Greg Hamann (unassisted) to cap off the scoring, 9-0.
