Alan Donaruma’s Hat Trick Leads Blues Over Wild 6-3
January 26, 2010 by NateIn a game that saw 80 combined shots, the Blues outgunned the Wild 6-3. The Wild opened the scoring at 9:07 of the first period when Lester Mayer put one past Dan Notartomaso with help from Greg Leblanc and Mark Ringuette. However, the lead wouldn’t last long as the Blues scored two goals in 29 seconds starting at 6:39 of the first when Michel Boulerice put one past Bill Notartomaso followed by Alan Donaruma’s first of the night, assisted by Nate Roy, to put the Blues up 2-1.
In the second period, the Blues continued their trend of goals in rapid succession at 12:42 with Alan Donaruma’s second tally. Nate Roy and Cory Amarante assisted. Cory Amarante’s then provided an unassisted goal 9 seconds later. The Blues struck again at 11:04 when Stephen Poogach slipped one past Bill Notartomaso with assists from Michel Boulerice and Patrick Taylor. The Wild would finish the second period strong with a shorthanded goal from KC Reardon with the lone assist going to Chris Seman, putting the score at 5-2.
The Blues’ final goal came early in the third period on the power play when Andrew Frisch’s point shot was tipped in by Alan Donaruma – completing his hat trick. The Wild made a late comeback attempt after a goal by Adam Thibault, but it fell short and the Blues emerged victorious 6-3.
