Roy’s 6 point game lifts Blues to season opening win over Maple Leafs, 9-4…
January 12, 2010 by NateIn the inaugural game of the winter season, the Blues skated past the Maple Leafs by a score of 9-4. The Leafs’ Mike Brewster opened the scoring at 9:00 minutes in the first, followed by another goal by Tim Gardner shortly thereafter. The Blues answered back quickly when Cory Amarante channeled his inner Russ Tyler and shot a Knuckle Puck from the point past Leafs’ Goalie Matt Lydon. The Blues tied the game a few minutes later on an Alan Donarume goal and took the lead on two quick goals by Patrick Taylor and Alan Donarume to close out the first with a score of 4-2. The Second period saw only one goal, with Joe Perna of the Blues making it 5-2. The Leafs got a quick power play goal from Mike Brewster to open the third, but the Blues quickly answered with a goal from Patrick Taylor. The Leafs’ scored their final goal at 10:37 of the third when Brian Martin shot one past Dan Notartomaso before the Blues finished up with goals from Anthony Deighton and two from Nate Roy.
