Royal’s special teams blanks Green 3-0.
November 13, 2009 by adminRoyal scored two power play goals and one short-handed goal to move to 7-0 on the season. Aaron Johnson was the star of the night, netting a goal 7 seconds into Royal’s first power play, scoring again just 9 seconds into another Royal power play, and assisting on James Koehler’s shorthanded goal.
The game was up for grabs going into the third period, with Royal up 1-0 and no scoring in nearly 29 minutes, but Johnson’s second goal proved to be plenty of insurance for the undefeated Royal squad. Glenn McCaffrey stopped 19 shots to earn the season’s first shutout. Bill Notartomaso stopped 29 Royal attempts, keeping the game close, all night long.
