White gets 2nd win of the season, 7-3 over Maroon…
November 6, 2009 by adminLast nights matchup between White and Maroon saw two teams both riding losing streaks hoping to turn their fortunes around. The White team, having dropped 4 straight since winning their first game of the season, desperately needed a win. While the Maroon team also started out strong but has dropped their last three games…White would get on the board first in this contest on a goal by Dave Santiano. A power play goal by Leon Walts of Maroon at the 3:24 mark of the first period would tie the game at 1-1. But, White quickly answered back as Tim Carter who was serving the penalty during the PP goal ripped a shot past the Maroon goaltender, only :08 seconds after leaving the box, to give White a 2-1 advantage. The White team would increase the lead in the second period on goals by Christian Grunnah and Jim Keck. Dan O’Conner did score for Maroon in the second period but Maroon still trailed 4-2 heading into the final frame. The third period saw White put the game out of reach, an early goal by Brian Martin was followed by Christian Grunnah’s second of the game as well as Dave Santiano’s second of the game giving Whtie a 7-2 advantage. Maroon team did close the scoring though as Steve Traynor sneaked one final shot past Matt Lydon, in goal for White, with only :01 second left in the game. Final Score: Maroon 3 White 7.
