Royal remains unbeaten with 4-3 win over White…
October 30, 2009 by adminJust days from Halloween the White team gave Royal a good scare last night. Royal got on the board first with 2 goals in the first period, both by Jim Koehler, closing the first period up 2-0. But the second period was all White. Brian Martin scored a pair of goals just 16 seconds apart to tie the game at two. 1:18 later Jim Keck scored to give White a 3-2 lead. White killed off 3 penalties during the second period but it was the pair of penalties late in the period to Royal that the tide shifted, Jim Koehler scoring a 5 on 3 shorthanded goal for his 3rd of the game. With the score tied at 3 in the third period Royal struck again, Ken Holbrook squeaked a shot through some traffic and found the back of the net, giving Royal a 4-3 lead. Team Royal would hold off a late charge by White to remain unbeaten at 5-0 on the season. Shots on goal, Royal 33 – White 26.
I don’t think Ken’s shot had nearly enough gusto to make it all the way to the back of the net.
edit…. Ken Holbrook squeaked a shot through the goalie’s arm and the puck dropped just over the goal line. (finding the back of the net sounds so much better!)
i think a 5-on-3 shorthanded goal should count as 2 points
Don’t forget about the snipe in the first period that put White up 1 – 0
Oh wait, somehow the Zebra’s missed that one…
awesome
