The Green team came out flying but the Royal team held off the early barrage with the help of backup goalie Matt Lydon, keeping Green scoreless until Royal’s starting goaltender Glenn McCaffrey arrived for the start of the second period. The Green team continued to pressure Royal and it paid off taking a 2-0 lead late in the 2nd period on goals by Tony Salamone and Alex Garceau. In the third period Royal found its legs peppering Green goaltender Bill Notartomaso with 12 shots finding the back of the net 4 times. Frank Pilati netted the game winner and capped off his game with a steal and assist on the empty net goal scored by Aaron Johnson in the closing seconds.
